It may be the case that we will look to instruct a barrister (counsel) to deal with some of the work involved in your case. This could include the preparation of witness statements or to advise on certain aspects of the law which may be specific and unique to your case.

Counsel may also be required to represent you at the Tribunal hearing which will include some preparation time. Such fees will be in addition to our fee estimates provided above.

Depending on the seniority of counsel instructed, an estimate of their fees, which are usually made up of a brief fee (preparation and attendance at a one-day hearing) and a daily refresher rate thereafter (excluding VAT at 20%):

Initial counsel brief fees
£2,500 - £20,000
A daily refresher rate
£2,000 - £6,000

All fees relating to counsel will be agreed with you in advance and will need to be paid on account before instructing them.

Other disbursements may include:

  • Expert witness fees.
  • Tribunal bundle preparation costs.
  • Travel expenses.
